Berryz Kobo in Seattle, day 1

I know you were expecting something from this blog and here it is, a report of the first day with Berryz Kobo in Seattle.

Just after the convention Sakura-Con opened its door, it was the opening party to introduce all the events and artists of the convention. At the end, Berryz Kobo came on stage to introduce themselves and answer to some questions.

Then some fans rushed directly to the booth of HelloStoreUSA to buy the CD and have the precious ticket for a sign. There also was the Berryz Kobo booth (of which you saw some pictures on this blog the day before the opening) with the charity box, the costume of Maasa Sudo and some live videos of Berryz.

Following this Later it was the Q&A session with the fans. And it has been possible for all the fans to take pictures during one minute, it was flashing from everywhere ;)
So the members answered many questions, Saki Shimizu made beatbox with Chinami Tokunaga for example, they really exchanged a lot with the fans during this special moment. The members were happy to see also some families (parents and children, all fans). One of the mother made cosplay costumes of Berryz for her children !!

The final event for the group was the first signing session. Of course all the special tickets were sold out for the first day, they signed many CDs but also photobooks, pictures, towels and some other things.

  1. I was the person from NYC who asked Captain to beatbox. What an amazing moment for me!

I want to thank Berryz Kobo and ALL the UP FRONT staff who worked so hard and made the weekend so special for us American fans. It really was a magical time.

I especially want to thank Yaz Noya for her tireless work and helping to bridge the communication gap for those of us who don't (yet) speak Japanese. Her job is surely very stressful with all of us fans being so excited. Thank You, Ms. Noya.

I am a huge supporter of everything H!P Tsunku-san and also KAN, and to hear BK do "Ai Wa Katsu" live in front of me brought tears to my eyes. Ganbarou Nippon!!

I hope you saw our Berryz March (Riot) on YouTube after the concert we couldn't stop cheering...that was incredible too.

Meeting people from a ll over America and the world who all had this love for Berryz in common was something I will never forget. I know it sounds trivial, pop music by teenage girls, but this group transcends that stereotype. The music is amazing the young women are incredible performers and personalities and their aura is entrancing and inspirational.

Now if I may be so bold as to request a visit on the East Coast here in New York City........C-ute????? Please?

  3. Yes, a HUGE Thank You / ありがとう to everyone who made that weekend possible! It was a tremendous thrill to be able to meet Berryz Kobo and see them perform live. Sometimes I still can't believe it really happened! They were all so nice... and the concert was so much fun! Precious moments, great memories. I hope the girls were able to feel how much we love and appreciate them, even if we couldn't communicate too well. We will continue to support them as much as we can from afar.

And thank you for posting those nice portraits of them at the autograph table!

We would love to see them again sometime soon... along with C-ute and Buono! :)

  4. I'm part of one of those fan families. :) All four of us easily had the best weekend we've ever had.

I, too, hope that the girls understood how happy we were to have them there. We tried our best to demonstrate our love and appreciation.

I hope that this was considered a success for UpFront. I really think Berryz, Cute, and Buono bring something unique that could pull in many more fans outside of Japan with the right exposure.

What really appeals to me is something that I don't think is so easy for the casual listener to discover. That is the story of 15 uniquely different young girls who were chosen out of thousands and worked incredibly hard to follow through on their dream. It is an inspiring story that really pulls you in.

I, and many others, stand ready to support them and UpFront's forays into the world-wide market. Please come to us for feedback and support- we're here for you. :)
